HS - Beta Sizes - Sketch

I'm kind of stumped for the next challenge's composition, so I decided to scribble this, instead.

I actually drew four people and a dog in one picture. All at once.
I am...actually kind of proud at myself for not wussing out after John, lol.

So, yeah. Just some beta kids and heights and kinda builds, I guess. Trying to work on varying my body types some, and I figured some Hamsteaks would be as good a place to start as any.

JOHN -
I was actually inspired by ~OutOfTheOrange's recent John concept, with a bit of my own little brother (who's about the same age) thrown in. Rather than being short kid, though, I think it'd work in favor of the Egbert/Harley/Crocker/English family to have kind of larger builds in general. My brother's a big kid, but not necessarily, like, bleeding blubber everywhere.

Really, though, I think an overweight dork fits John best. I mean, he's basically constantly imbibing baked goods and other Crockercrap, and I'd love to have the metabolism of anyone who could regularly ingest those amounts of sugar and starch and still be a stick. Which isn't to say that there probably aren't people like that, but really, I don't think John seems the type. I dothink he does lose some weight over the course of the adventure, though, whether by means of physical activity, lower calorie intake, or weird Medium majyyks. Or all of the above. Or godhood, because.

But, yeah. Sorry, lovely-bishounen John fans. I like bishounens as much as the next person, but I think this is more realistic.

I don't know what's up with his hair, though. It's, like, kind of a quiff thing? I have no idea, orz.

ROSE -
Admittedly, it's actually kind of difficult for me to see Rose as anything but a slender, waning goth. I can definitely see her as being more on the petite side, but I really just like the idea of her being taller than Dave.

She has, like, zero boobage, though, and her hips are really only noticeable because of how skinny she is. My headcanon defines her as a light, if somewhat picky, eater, and it's a wonder at all that she's averagely tall for her age.

DAVE -
I like picking on Dave, hnnngh. I mean, it's bad enough he has esteem issues, but he's just...too much fun to pick on. Just because. I imagine his clothes are always a bit ill-fitting, since he and Bro probably share clothes (Bro wears a size smaller than he should, partially because it looks good on him, and partially because Dave needs to wear 'em, too).

He's really slouchy, and his bad posture makes him look even shorter than he is. He also has a ridiculous baby face, and he hates it.

JADE -
Jade shares the slightly larger builds of the Egbert/Harley/Crocker/English lines, and is fairly strong-set for a girl, but in more of a boyish way. Rather than having hips like Rose, she has broader shoulders and a fair-sized bust for her age, especially because she totes her gun around everywhere and generally has to do everything by herself. She's good at accenting her smaller hips, though - that big belt of hers was Grandpa's, and it was perfect for keeping her dress up and making her waist look smaller at the same time.

She also has a ridiculously messy bedhead since she falls asleep at random so often, she doesn't really bother to brush it much. That, and Bec slobber leads to some radioactive cowlicks. ...and I cannot dog. Ever.

...so, yeah. Homestucks.
'kay, time for bed.

...ah, crap. Jade is phasing into Dave's foot.
